This one of a kind sashiko wall hanging is composed of 24 panels in a range of traditional patterns and motifs, entirely hand-drafted and stitched in white cotton thread on indigo-dyed cotton fabric.  

Dimensions: 93cm (36 inches) wide x 135 cm (53 inches) long. Each panel is 15 cm x 15 cm (6”x 6”).

Hana-kikko (Flower Tortoiseshell) is a sashiko collective based in Ibarakai prefecture Japan. The group has been meeting since 2014 under the guidance of Chiyoko Nakazaki, and working under this name since 2021. This is one of the group's collaborative wall-hangings. Since it is entirely handmade and the work of more than person, there are variations in stitch size, and draft lines are faintly visible close up in some panels. Note that the hanging pole is not included in the price.

1: Eight-lobed hemp leaf, intersecting squares, linked half circles, pine bark diamond.
2: Cedar needles, hemp leaf, lattice variation, angled seven treasures.
3: Bishamon, flower diamond stitch, autumn winds, square measure.
4: Eight-lobed hemp leaf, seven treasures, persimmon glower, woven basket.　
​5: Cross stitch, vajra pestle, chrysanthemum stitch, eight-lobed hemp leaf.
6: Grape motif, eight-lobed hemp leaf, woven cross diamond, lightening spiral.
